RAWALPINDI - All Pakistan inter-universities debate competition was held at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University (PMAS-AAUR) Rawalpindi for the award of Allama Iqbal shield 2008 here on Thursday. The contest was organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Khan, Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khalid Mahmood Khan highlighted the importance of such competitions for the promotion of healthy activities among the students.  He hoped that such activities would be continued at all level in future as well. Dr Khan also thanked the HEC for providing an opportunity to AAUR for arranging the contest. In the English contest, Anees Qazi of Foundation University secured first position, Umer Khan of Foundation University got second and Abdul Naseer of FAST University obtained third positions. As a team Foundation University was declared first in English debate. Faiza Adrees and Rakshanda Jabeen of Quaid-i-Azam University got first and second positions respectively and Haider Miraj of FAST University got the third position in the Urdu debate. As a team Quaid-i-Azam University was declared first in Urdu debate.
