ISLAMABAD - A serious negligence on part of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) was observed as the Capital motorists were caught up in jam-packed traffic during US Secretary of State Hillary Clintons visit to Police Lines Friday evening. People had to face a great deal of difficulty when Islamabad Traffic Police blocked all the roads leading to Police Lines leaving motorists to Gods mercy. There were long queues of motors at the Kashmir Highway from Motorway Toll Plaza and further to Peshawar Mor. The motorists had to wait for hours in the traffic jam to reach their destinations. Due to the jam-packed traffic at Kashmir Highway, the motorists coming from 9th Avenue, 8th Avenue and other parts of the city towards Kashmir Highway and Sectors G-9, G-10 & G-11 had no option but to wait for hours on the roads to reach their desired places. People who had reached Capital after four hours of tiresome travelling from Lahore through Motorway had to face nuisance due to long queues on the Kashmir Highway. Azam, a motorist at Kashmir Highway said that if at all it was necessary to close the roads at the arrival of Hillary Clinton at the Police Lines, ITP should have made alternate arrangements so that motorists could have been spared the nerve-breaking traffic jams. Benish, another motorist said whenever VVIPs visited the Capital, the residents had to face great inconvenience due to their movements in different parts of the city as ITP blocked different roads. Dr Zeshan said that there should be an end to VIP culture and they should travel along with the common motorists. The ITP spokesman when contacted said that the roads were closed due to Hillary Clintons visit for sometime but later they were opened for general traffic. Hillary Clinton had visited Police Lines Headquarters to attend a special ceremony conducted to pay tributes to the martyred personnel of Islamabad Police who sacrificed their lives in line of duty.
