Petitioner fined for filing fake case against DG Rescue 1122

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court has imposed a fine of Rs20000 on a petitioner, Major(r) Tahir Hussain Bokhari, for filing a fake case against Rizwan Naseer, Director General Rescue 1122. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar dismissed the petition after going through the contents of the petition and termed it a frivolous case based on malafide intention. The petitioner had alleged in his petition that DG Rescue 1122 was involved in massive financial irregularities in the department, removal of hundreds of trained staff and is running department as one-man show. The petitioner said a huge amount of Rs500,000 is spent on selection and training of a single rescuer and around 10,000 persons are working in the service. He said DG Rizwan Naseer was appointed in 2004 on political affiliations and he had made all the appointments on his own. He encouraged nepotism and favouritism by laying down different criteria for same post. He at least 300 rescue members were terminated on ground of misconduct without affording any opportunity of hearing. The petitioner had further said that DG Rizwan had embezzled a huge amount and deposited in account of his own NGO (SEMA) the amount collected from insurance and foreign grant. He prayed that all the appointments, removal of employees, approval of budget expenditure, embezzlement committed by Rizwan Naseer may be declared illegal and he should be held responsible for all these illegalities.
