LAHORE - Advisor to President Zardari, Dr Qayyum Soomro has said that United Nations investigation team probing the assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto will submit its report by April-May next year. Talking to reporters at a luncheon hosted in his honour by PPP legislator Shabina Riaz Sheikh at Lahore Gymkhana Club here, Dr Soomro said that findings of the UN inquiry commission would be made public to expose the hidden hand behind BBs murder. Responding to a question, he belied the impression that government was showing any slackness regarding investigation of Mohtarmas murder, saying that President Zardari was restless to bring before the nation the real culprits behind the murder. The government, he said, decided to approach the UN for the purpose because it did not want to be blamed for political victimisation. Besides, he added, no body would doubt the impartiality of the inquiry report conducted by the UN team. To another question, he said that UN commission would be provided all-out help it needed to investigate the case. Talking about the recent meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Mian Nawaz Sharif, he said that both leaders would meet again soon, most probably after a month or so, and make some important announcement regarding 17th Amendment and other contentious issues that had been plaguing the relations between the two parties since inception of present government. He said all modalities in this regard have been worked out by the parliamentary committee on constitutional reforms that would submit its report soon. He said that Rs 1,000 per month, currently being dispatched to deserving families under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), would be increased to Rs 7,000 a month gradually besides registration of more families under the (BISP). PPP leaders, Munir Ahmad Khan and Zekria Butt were also present on the occasion.
