Asad Rahman’s Qul today

LAHORE – The Qul ceremony of renowned intellectual and activist Asad Rahman, who passed away on Monday, will be held at 05:00pm on Wednesday (today) at his residence House No 50, Street 2, Sector V, DHA.
Asad Rahman, who is is survived by his wife Tanvir Rahman and son Mahmood Rahman and his family, was buried on Tuesday.  Asad spent his entire life struggling for the rights of the oppressed. As a young man, he gave up the privileged life he had as the son of the chief justice and decided instead to fight with Balochs as a guerrilla commander.
Asad spent a decade in the mountains and was named and is still remembered as Chakar Khan by his Baloch comrades. When that rebellion was crushed, he still continued to work for the rights of Balochs; in fact, for all the oppressed in Pakistan, with his voice, pen and skills as a grassroots organiser.
