Govt gives seven day deadline

MULTAN -District Coordination Officer Nasim Sadiq issued a seven-day deadline on Tuesday for shifting of cattle sheds from the city area, hurling a warning that otherwise the animals would be confiscated. He also revealed that arrangements were being made to launch a massive operation against encroachments in December.
Talking to the journalists, he said that cases would be registered against those violating the deadline and a grand operation would be launched in entire city after November 6 which would continue till complete removal of cattle pens from Multan city.
He added that Rs2,000 reward would be given to the person giving information on any cattle shed.
He directed the officers of district administration to visit the city and serve masses instead of sticking to their chairs. He directed them to take stern action against such owners of the cattle pens who influence the administration through their political patronage. He said that the residents of Multan would soon feel the change.
Meanwhile, a special team conducted raids on leather merchants trading on roadside on Water Works Road and arrested one trader. A case was registered against him. The DCO said on this occasion that no compromise would be made on the cleanliness of the city and strict action would be taken against those making the city untidy.
Water filtration plants to function: The city district government is going to make all out of order or dysfunctional water filtration plants functional within two days. This was disclosed by the EDO Community Development Tanveer Iqbal while talking to the journalists during his visits to all filtration plants on Tuesday.
He added that committees comprising honest and dedicated persons would be formed to run the plants while the presence of the staff deployed at the plant would be checked by telephone calls.
He said that the DCO Naseem Sadiq took serious notice of this issue and ordered concerned authorities to ensure repair and restoration of all plants within two days so that the masses could be supplied free of germs water.
