ISLAMABAD  - The trend of extortion has started gripping Rawalpindi as the traders are receiving ‘notes’ from extortionists while many of the businessmen have already been looted by them.

Sources said that the traders have been receiving telephone calls demanding extortion. The extortionists threaten the shopkeepers of serious consequences in case they fail to pay the money, or inform the police.

The businessmen are much upset by the situation. When they informed the police of the situation, then instead of taking action to resolve matter, the police asked the traders to get services of security guards.

The traders have demanded of the police department to take steps to attend to the their grievances, or otherwise they will have to leave the country and shift their business abroad.
