SIALKOT: Infuriated villagers confined a raiding police party and brutally tortured the policemen who raided a house to arrest a suspect in village Muhmandwali, Pasrur tehsil. Reportedly, a special team of Pasrur Saddar police station led by ASI Muhammad Hanif was to arrest proclaimed offender Abdul Rehman. When the policemen reached there, dozens of villagers including Abdul Rehman, Sarfraz, Shazia, Razia, Rashida and others armed with bricks and wooden sticks and iron roads attacked the police party. The team consisted of ASIs Muhammad Hanif, Sarfraz, police constables Muhammad Mansha, Ghulam Farid and Muhammad Afzal. Later, a big contingent of police reached there, surrounded the village and got the captives freed.

When contacted, DSP Pasrur Mian Absar Ahmed told newsmen that the police party raided there to arrest the accused PO Abdul Rehman wanted by the Pasrur Saddar police in several cases of cattle theft. –Reporter

The DSP added that Pasrur Saddar police have registered a case against the accused for attacking and torturing the police party.
