ATC defers hearing on Mush plea

Islamabad: Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad Friday deferred the hearing on former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s application requesting the court to withdraw his arrest warrants in judges’ detention case. ATC judge Sohail Ikram was to conduct the hearing of the case but he was on leave therefore, the proceedings of this matter were adjourned till November 13.

In this matter, the court had already issued notices to federation on the application of Musharraf who approached the court in this connection through his counsel Ilyas Siddiqui Advocate. In the application, Musharraf’s counsel contended that the court had issued arrest warrants of his client for not presenting Musharraf’s medical report along with his application seeking exemption from appearance before the court.

He added that now Musharraf’s medical report was being submitted. Therefore, the counsel prayed to the court to withdraw Musharraf’s arrest warrants.
According to the report, a four-member medical board currently providing treatment to Musharraf has advised him to have an operation from abroad. The medical report submitted in the court stated that unfortunately, the modern and sophisticated equipment required for this operation are not present in the country. In the medical board, two orthopedic surgeons, one neurologist and one neurosurgeon are included and Musharraf medical report was issued with the signs of Dr Sohail Rafi, Dr Nadeem Memon, Dr Imtiaz Hashmi and Dr Tariq Muhammad.
