LAHORE - The Health Department has put government hospitals on high alert to cope with any emergency during local bodies’ elections in Punjab.

The health secretary has directed principals of all autonomous medical institutions, medical superintendents of teaching hospitals, DHQ and THQ hospitals and EDOs Health to ensure presence of senior administrative doctors, physicians and surgeons.

They have also been directed to ensure availability of medicines, blood bags and ambulances in the hospitals for providing quality and prompt healthcare to the patients.

Hospitals will remain on high alert on Oct 31, Nov 19 and Dec 5, the days of Local Bodies elections in phase-I, phase-II and phase-III respectively. The officers have been asked strict compliance of the instructions issued to their institutions.
