ISLAMABAD: Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif on Monday said that last time in August 2014, the government had showed flexibility but this time no risk will be taken.

In an interview to a private TV channel, Asif said that the 2014 sit-had made the country economically weak. He said this time the government has decided not to allow the lock down of Islamabad by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The defence minister said neither the army has been called nor it would interfere. He added that the army had rendered unprecedented sacrifices for ending terrorism and restoration of peace in the country.

Asif said that government and military are on same page. He added that there were no rifts between civilian and military leadership on the defence of the country and elimination of terrorism from the country.

The defence minister said the government wants to give a clear message to Imran Khan that no one can weaken the writ of the state. He said Imran avoided appearing in the high court despite the court orders.
