SUKKUR - Unicef Country representative, Tom Tiaylor has said they are supporting the government and the people of Pakistan in their efforts to rid the country of polio and other diseases.

He said this while visiting the different Project areas being implemented by Sindh Rural Support Organization at Ghotki district on Sunday.

He said that Unicef was working for child protection, health, childhood development, immunization and nutrition. ‘We do not work alone but with government, local communities and local organizations to carry out our activities properly,’ and added that Unicef wanted children to become healthy and useful citizens.

He said that he was truly excited to be part of Unicef’s important work in rural districts of Sindh province with partnership of SRSO adding that he was felt warmly welcomed by SRSO.

He said that was an honour to work for children in Pakistan, including those most vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Earlier, the District Manager of SRSO, Ashiq Kalwar, welcomed the Tom Tiaylor.

He appreciated the Government of Sindh and Unicef for supporting rural development programmes and said the Unicef’s projects would prove beneficial for poor parents of the district.
