MULTAN - Police told the court on Monday Qandeel Baloch, a self-proclaimed model, was murdered at the residence of Mufti Abdul Qavi while another court extended the physical remand of Mufti for two more days.

The investigation officer stated this before District and Sessions Judge Ameer Muhammad Khan during the hearing of murder case of social media celebrity. However, he failed to submit the final charge sheet of the case again. The judge gave the investigation officer November 20 deadline for submitting final charge sheet and adjourned the hearing.

The police also produced the arrested accused Waseem and Haq Nawaz before the court while Azeem, father of the slain celebrity, was also present on the occasion.

Giving his statement before the court, Azeem reiterated that his daughter was killed on instigation of Mufti Abdul Qavi. He claimed that Mufti offered him money for dropping charges but he refused. "I'll never forgive Mufti. I'll get punished the killers of my daughters whatsoever," he asserted.

Meanwhile, police produced Mufti Abdul Qavi in the court of area magistrate Muhammad Parvez, who remanded the cleric into police custody for two more days. The police also produced the report of Mufti's polygraph test and requested for extension in his physical remand. He was shifted to Chehlyak police station in tough security.

Giving his statement before the court, Mufti claimed that he had no connection with Qandeel's murder and police dragged him for nothing. His lawyer Yousuf Zubair said that Mufti was being involved in the case on the basis of mere guesses and police failed to make any recovery from him.

The cleric, who was arrested by police on October 18 while trying to flee after cancellation of his bail, was indicted into the case under sections 302 and 109 on the request of Qandeel's father, Muhammad Azeem.  The social media celebrity was strangled by her real brother on July 16, 2016 in the name of honour. Although the murderer Waseem confessed to his crime, police suspected that Mufti provoked him to commit this crime.
