Commenting on the court’s decision in the Asia Bibi case, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Wednesday that the National Assembly (NA) and other institutions of the country should support the Supreme Court on its verdict.
While talking to the reporters, the PPP chairman said, “The Supreme Court is our national institution and I believe that the NA, along with all other institutions, should support the court’s decision to acquit Asia Bibi,” Bilawal said.
Bilawal further said that he wishing for the country to be run according to the Constitution and rule of law, rather than being run from the streets. “I am waiting for the day when the country is run through the rule of law and not threats.”
He also spoke on the national action plan and how the previous and past governments had failed to implement it.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan acquitted a Christian woman, Asia Bibi, sentenced to death over blasphemy allegations. The apex court cleared Asia Bibi of all blasphemy allegations and ordered her release.
