Lahore - The first ever COAS Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship will take place from November 4 to 8 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. The finest athletes (male/female) from various countries across the globe are coming to Islamabad for the said event. Young people mostly aged 18 and above are going to participate in senior male and female Khyrougi event. Pakistani national and international referees will be joined by a various other international referees for the smooth conduct of this prestigious championship. For over three days, 550 athletes will compete for gold and glory across 16 (Male/Female) Different Medal Categories. Commenting on the preparations of the event, President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Lt Col (Retd) Waseem Ahmed, said: “Pakistan Taekwondo Federation will deliver, in every sense, the warmest and friendliest COAS Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship in sincere spirit and genuine warmth in our Beautiful Capital Islamabad.” He emphasized that such events are beneficial for the professional development of our officials/ athletes. These events improve the organizational skills of National Sports Federations, ultimately creating a better image of the beloved country. He added that I would also like to mention here the support given by the Chief of Army Staff and his office, not only in encouraging the proposal in initial stage but also by providing assistance so that better ties can be developed with other countries through the sports diplomacy.
