Future entrepreneurs take maiden flight at NUML
Islamabad - A weeklong Entrepreneurial Week, arranged by the faculty of management science to provide future entrepreneurs not only with an opportunity to take their maiden flight into wide stretch of business and learn tricks of what actually goes into doing a business but also to reduce the industry-academia gap, started here at National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Monday.
Entrepreneurial Week is a way to look beyond theoretical and academic aspects of our studies which we develop very meticulously some times in shape of prelims, surprise tests, final terms, assignments and presentation during two years of master in business administration.
It is really tests of our skills and nerves to put into practice notions and theories by replicating a real shopkeeper, retailer, salesman and so on,” stated Wajiha Bashir of MBA third semester while presenting mouth-watering hot Gajrela (traditional sweet dish) at her stall to customers in Entrepreneur Week.
Waqar Azeem, another student of BBA third semester, said, “Every businessman’s first priority for his son is to join his business and when the son gets ready to become a businessman, he doesn’t let him join his business rather sends him to another businessman where he undergoes a tight schedule of running small errands, loading, shop arrangements to customer dealing.
As a result of this toil as young aspiring businessman, the son becomes a successful businessman when he takes charge of inherited business. This Entrepreneurial Week helps us get the same insight and learn what actual business means.”
Head of management science department, Nadeem Talib, said Entrepreneurial Week is arranged after every semester for the students of MBA and BBA as a project work for the subject of entrepreneurship.
It actually helped students understand and exercise the concepts like how to initiate an idea, establish a business and what actually involved in a business.
On the other hand it helped students create jobs for themselves and for others, he added.
A total of 50 stalls of different products including popular eastern and western foods, traditional drinks, dresses and garments, jewellery, electric home appliances and books were displayed.
NUML Rector Maj Gen (Retd) Masood Hasan and DG Brig Azam Jamal also visited stalls and appreciated the students for their commitment and dedication.
Students, staff and faculty members from different department of university thronged these stalls and purchased things of their interest. This entrepreneurial week will continue till 19th of December.
