Islamabad - All major public and private universities have been closed for one week due to ongoing security situation after attack on Army Public School in Peshawar.

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), which has already been hit by two suicide blasts in October 2009, will remain closed for one week.

The university administration announced that IIUI and all its constituent units would remain closed for one week with effect from Monday (December 22).

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) will also remain closed from Monday (tomorrow) till further announcement; however, arrangements have been made to continue the process of admissions as per schedule.

The revised schedule will be notified for the information of all concerned on re-opening of the university.

Bahria University, Air University and FAST University Islamabad will also remain closed till December 27. National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Ripha International University have already announced that academic activity will remain suspended for the next whole week.

The administration of Federal University of Arts and Sciences said the decision regarding vacations will be taken by the new vice chancellor who will take charge on Monday.

The syndicate of the university on Saturday sent the incumbent VC Zafar Iqbal on forced leave on corruption charges and other irregularities.

All public and private schools in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) have also been closed from December 22-31, 2014 owing to precarious security situation.
