427 SWA schools closed for last 6 years, NA told
ISLAMABAD - The federal government has informed that 427 schools of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) have been closed for the last six years due to the worsening law and order situation in the area.
The troubled area of around 0.8 million population has total 635 education institutional in the area but due to law and order situation 427 school (Male & Female) are closed.
“There are total 22145 number of students enrolled in 635 educational institutions and 427 schools have been closed since October 2009,” Minister for States and Frontier Region Lt. Gen (R) Abdul Qadir informed the National Assembly, in a written reply, during the Question-Hour, on Friday.
Responding to a question posed by FATA lawmaker Ghalib Khan, the minister said that temporary arrangements of classes had been made for the students of SWA in district Tank. “On normalization of situation, all these institutions will be rehabilitated and reopened for the students,” said the minister.
About another query, the minister said that total 1231 students of Higher Secondary Schools for Boys and Girls are enrolled.
The startling figure reveals that 418 students of high section and 813 from degree colleges are enrolled in the area. “Temporary arrangements of classes are made for students of GDC Sam and Ladha at Zam Public School in district Tank area,” said the minister sharing details of students enrolled in high section.
About total 22145 enrolment of students in the area, the minister said that 9894 students including 3724 girls are enrolled in mosques.
