Directorate of Education (FDE) enjoyed 12-day spring holidays and joined their institutes from April 13 with fresh minds. They were excited being promoted in new classes and were eager to get glimpse of their new syllabus but they could not get the textbooks and relied on chit chat during the class hours.

It was not for the first time that the student of federal educational institutions have not received their textbooks but happened for many times during the previous years.

Amir Hussain, father of a student, said, “The FDE is responsible to ensure delivery of textbooks to the students in time to save their time and energy.”

“The students are now relying on their senior fellows to manage old books from them like every year”, he said. He said the students should have been provided textbooks just after the announcement of results so that they can go through the syllabus of their new class during the holidays.

Another parent, Sameena Shahid said, “My children are disappointed while sitting idle in the classrooms in absence of textbooks.” She said the concerned authorities must adopt a strategy to place the order of textbooks to the publishing authority in time to ensure delivery of textbooks before the new academic session.

Talking to APP, Director Schools (Male), Iftikhar Qureshi said that 50 percent books have been delivered by the book publishing authority National Book Foundation (NBF) and distributed among the students. The process of textbooks distribution would be completed within a week or 10 days, he said.
