AIOU to produce PhD thesis on life, work of late Bashir: VC

Islamabad - Speakers at a function held here yesterday at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) paid rich tributes to renowned Naat Khawan late  Bashir Hussain Nazim, who made himself prominent as a lover of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through his writing and recitation.
The speakers included Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui, well-known literary figures Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik and Prof Ahsan Akbar, besides his sons Brig Dr Mukarram and Mehtab Bashir. The function was arranged by Department of Mass Communication. Nazim who had earned Presidential Pride of Performance Award for Naat recitations died in 2012.  He authored several books in different languages, including his famed collections Dewan-e-Ghalib and a collection of Naat.
Dr Shahid Siddiqui announced the University (Urdu Department) will produce PhD thesis on life and work of late Bashir Hussain Nazim. The university has been arranging such activities for the last one year to remember and highlight those who served the society in their respective fields.
Eulogising his qualities of head and heart, he said late Nazim has emerged himself as living personality who had been narrating Naats in a most inspiring and impressive manner.
He had earned good name among his friends due to his humble and soft-spoken personality. He was a also true lover of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal who popularized his famous sayings through his poetry and columns. He was also known for his command on Urdu and Persian language, the speakers added.
Prof Malik and Prof Akbar spoke about the qualities of Late Nazim, quoting their personal association with him. Dr Saqib Riaz also addressed to the function.
