Progress hinges upon protecting labour rights, says Malik
islamabad - Pakistan People’s Party leader Senator Rehman Malik yesterday said no country can progress and compete with the challenges of the 21st century without protecting the rights of labour and facilitating them. Paying homage to labourers of the country and throughout the world, the lawmaker said he was proud of his party that had always struggled for the rights of working class. Malik said the PPP will not allow anyone to snatch bread and butter from this hardworking section of the society.
He said the developed countries’ history showed they had valued their labour community and protected their basic rights.
He said the PPP will oppose sacking of workers in the name of privatisation as “we are committed for defending the dignity of the labours.”
Senator Malik was invited as Chief Guest to the event of hiking by Youth Association of Youth in Islamabad where he delivered a lecture and encouraged them saying hard work was the only way forward as there was no shortcut to success and victory.
The lawmaker said youth was the real asset of the country and future of Pakistan.
He said youth had played an important role in every successful movement of the country and in making of Pakistan they had a great role.
Senator Malik said the real leader of the youth was Bilawal Bhutto Zardari “who is young, energetic, highly motivated and visionary” among the present political stalwarts of the country.
Senator Malik advised the youth that only hard work, dedications, self-determination and the right choice of career ensures success.
Meanwhile, yesterday, former President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condoled the death of the mother of journalist Khushnood Ali Khan.
In their condolence message both the leaders expressed their shock and grief over the news of the death.
