LAHORE - All nine boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in the province have announced the result of Secondary School Certificate (matriculation) Annual Examinations 2014.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Friday announced the result at a ceremony held at Alhamra Hall with overall pass percentage of 66.94.

Provincial Law and Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan was the chief guest on the occasion, while Secretary Higher Education Abdullah Sumbal, BISE Lahore Chairman Nasarullah Virk, Controller Examinations Anwer Farooq and other senior officials were also present.

Overall, 187,335 applied for the examination while 185,753 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 124,343 passed the examination. The overall pass rate was 66.94 per cent.

In Science group, total 99,547 candidates applied while 98,970 appeared in the examination.

 According to the results, 76521 declared as successful setting the pass rate at 77.32pc. In Humanities group, total 77388 candidates applied while 86,783 appeared in the examination. According to the results, 47822 declared as successful setting the pass percentage at 55.11pc.

Rana Mashood distributed medals among all position holders, whereas cash prize of Rs20,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 each were distributed among students who stood first, second and third as well as they were awarded with gold, silver and bronze medal while over all topper, Usama Qamar, was also awarded with a laptop.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Mashood said that the government of Punjab played an important role in eradication ‘booti mafia’ from the province. He also said that the government started a tradition of sending position holders to Europe. The minister reiterated his government’s resolve to ensure better education, saying that the CM has been directing his fleet to step up efforts for the cause.  The Lahore Board supplementary examination 2014 will start from September 9, 2014.

The admission fee will be deposited till August 8, admission fees with double fees will be deposited till August 15 and with triple fees will be deposited till August 20 through online transfers. It is for the first time that the candidates can apply for rechecking through online within 15 days after the announcement of the result.

PR students on excellence tracks

Students of Pakistan Railway’s schools showed excellent result in the Secondary School (Annual) Examination, 2014 declared on Friday by BISE, Lahore.

Suman Sajjad of PR St Andrew’s Girls High School stood 1st among all PR schools securing 1040 marks. Zeeshan Ghazi of PR Boys High School Engine Shed, Lahore secured 2nd position with 1033 marks of PR Girls High School Mughalpura, Lahore and Areej Bilal of with 1026 secured 3rd position.

Pakistan Railways Director Education Prof Dr Farhan Ebadat Yar Khan congratulated all the students and Faculty Members on their success.
