Lecturers’ strike continues

TOBA TEK SINGH  - Contractual lecturers and class four employees of Higher Education Department-run commerce colleges continued their strike across the district for the 5th consecutive day here on Friday.
The lecturers from various colleges demanded the government to increase their salaries. They staged a sit-in outside their colleges. They said that the salaries of other colleges had been increased during the last three years but they had been ignored. They demanded raise in house rent and other allowances.
LASER LAND LEVELLERS: Eight farmers have been declared winners of subsidised laser land leveller after a draw on Friday. They were delivered laser land levellers on subsidised price by the Water Management Department.
The draw was supervised by DCO Waqas Alam at TMA Hall. ADC Malik Khadim Jilani, EDO Finance Mehr Sultan and DO Water Management Dr Asif were also present on the occasion. Total of 317 growers had applied for the laser land leveller machines.
ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: The three day anti-polio drive will start in the district from December 8. Special teams will visit door to door to give vaccination to children under five years of age.
