LAHORE - Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the importance of books could not be denied and the people, who are interested in finding the truth, love books.

He was addressing a one day symposium on “Expanding Horizons for Information Professionals: Challenges for Education and Training Programms” organized by PU Department of Information Management (DIM) at Institute Administrative Sciences (IAS) on Thursday.

Secretary Archive and Libraries Oriya Maqbool Jaan, Chairperson DIM Prof Dr Kanwal Amin, Dean Faculty of Behavioral Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakir, PU ASA President Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, librarians from various parts of country, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

In his address, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that we must provide beautiful academic atmosphere in the libraries to attract people.

Oriya Maqbool Jan said that libraries played important role to spread ray of knowledge in societies. He said that in the past people used to take admissions in academic institutions to seek knowledge but unfortunately now students just wanted degrees.

Prof Dr Zakria Zakir said that nations could not develop unless they focus on education and promote library culture.  

Dr Kanwal Amin said that the event was organized to review needs of the subject of the information management and plan for the future.

SEMINAR: Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre will organize seminar on “The Strategic Dimension of Pakistan China Relations: The Past and Future” on Friday (today) at 11am at its Auditorium. PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran will preside over the seminar while Brigadier (r) Saeed Sharif and Muhammad Mehdi will deliver a lecture on the topic.

RESULTS: Punjab University Examinations Department has declared the results of MA History Part-I supplementary examination 2014, MA Punjabi Part-I supplementary examination 2014 and MSc Geography Part-I supplementary examination 2014. Detailed results are also available at PU website
