Students educated on medical profession

GUJRAT - The newly admitted students of Nawaz Sharif Medical College, University of Gujrat (NSMC-UoG) were welcomed during a ceremony held here the other day.

“It’s not just a white coat. It brings along a lot of responsibilities upon you with regard to the noblest of all professions. I congratulate you all upon making it to the Nawaz Sharif Medical College,” Dr Abid Nazir said, explaining to the young men and women what it meant to be a doctor.

Registrar UoG Dr Tahir Aqil, the chief guest of the orientation ceremony, congratulated the newcomers, advising them to dig deeper into their studies for building a bright future.

“The UoG, through its state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly qualified faculty, will provide you with all the necessary support throughout your academic journey to make it a memorable experience for you,” Dr Tahir Aqil said.

NSMC Principal Dr Zafar Iqbal Gill said, “The profession demands that you should be willing at all times to help the sick and the destitute.” He said that the medial college had made a name in a short span of time under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr ZiaUl Qayyum with the graph of the successful candidates taking a constant upturn. Dr M Suleman Tahir, Dr Merajul Siraj, Director Students Services Center (SSC) Muhammad Yaqoob, Dr Shahida Hussain Tarrar also spoke on the occasion.

DOCTORS’ ROLE

Gujranwala Commissioner M Asif urged the medical students to utilise their full energy and skills to serve the ailing humanity.

He was addressing the participants of “White Coat Ceremony” held at Kh Muhammad Safdar Medical College (KMSMC) Sialkot. The ceremony is celebrated every year to welcome the new medical students in the college. The commissioner added that the Allah has selected them for the noble cause of serving the ailing humanity. He said that medical is a sacred profession. Principal Dr Zafar Ali Chaudhry and parents of the students and their teachers were also present.
