Aitzaz Ahsan's CWC membership restored

ISLAMABAD - PPP Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari has restored the basic and Central Working Committee membership of one of the most senior party veterans Ch Aitzaz Ahsan, sources in party disclosed to TheNation. While suspending the basic membership of Ch Aitzaz on charges of violating the party line, Secretary Gen of the party Senator Jahangir Badr had said that the basic as well as the Central Working Committee membership of Aitzaz was suspending on the direction of party Co-Chairman Zardari on the grounds that he was deviating from party line on the issue of restoration of the deposed judges of superior judiciary. He further said that Aitzaz would be summoned by the party high command and explanation would be sought from him in that regard. Ch Aitzaz Ahsan on the other hand termed the suspension of his basic membership unlawful and in violation of the party statute as according to him his membership could not be suspended without following a set procedure of serving him with show cause notice and hearing him. The sources in the party disclosed that Ch Aitzaz Ahsan Friday night called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-i-Sadr and following the meeting, the misunderstandings between the two were removed. Zardari in his capacity as Co-Chairman of the party restored the basic as well as CWC membership of Ch Aitzaz Ahsan. The party sources further disclosed that President Zardari was planning to give him some important assignment in Punjab and keeping in view his goodwill with the PML-N central leadership he could be instrumental in diluting the invisible tension between the two major political forces in the country.
