CHAKWAL - Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Margaret Adamson on Tuesday inaugurated drinking water supply scheme, waste treatment unit, street pavements construction and repair of surface drains in village Bullay Bala some 10km from Chakwal.

The facilities were recently constructed by Plan International and Public Health Department with the assistance of Australian government. The Australian go0vernment had provided 2.8 million Australian dollars for the projects. Speaking on this occasion, Mrs. Adamson said that her country would continue efforts to contribute in improving the living standard of the Pakistani people. She also appreciated the community involvement in eradicating open defecation and moving towards improved health status of the community. Earlier Adamson also visited the Government Girls High School in village Roopwal where water and sanitation improvement has been undertaken under the same project. Mrs. Adamson appreciated school teachers and members of the school wash club for their joint efforts to improve wash condition not only in the school but in the village also. Country Director Plan International Imran Yousuf Shami, Additional Secretary Public Health Department, Salman Yousuf, SE Public Health Qasim Khan Niazi, XEN Nadeem Anwar, Hasnain Kazmi were also present on this occasion.
