Shujaat to keep PML-Q crown

ISLAMABAD (APP) - PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain would serve as the party head for third consecutive term, APP has learnt reliably. Well-placed party sources revealed, requesting anonymity that the party leadership had unanimously decided to re-elect Chaudhry Shujaat for the partys top slot for another term while the slot of Secretary General is yet to be decided. Sources said that Mushahid Hussain was a strong candidate for another term, however, the rebel party leader Salim Saifullah Khan is also lobbying to become Secretary General. The election of Salim Saifullah Khan would be a major dent for the partys dissident group as he was a leading player of the rebel group. When argued that the Partys Constitution did not allow any party President to hold the party office for third term, the source said, The Partys Constitution is not a final judgment; rather, it could be amended as per aspirations of the party leaders and workers who wanted to see Shujaat as President for a third term, added the source. The source added that the party election would be held on time, August 12 and schedule would be announced soon, added the source. When approached for comments, Partys Secretary General, Mushahid Hussain Sayed confirmed that the party elections would be held as per schedule on August 12 this year. Any party worker or leader can vie for any slot of the party and there is no restriction on anyone for competing for any slot, he added.
