Scrutiny of NA-49 candidates completes



ISLAMABAD - Some 12 more prospective candidates for the constituency of NA-48 Saturday appeared before Returning Officer (RO) at the District and Sessions Court as the first phase of the scrutiny of nomination forms continued.
While the scrutiny of nomination papers of all the candidates for NA-49 have completed but the final list of the candidates will be issued later.
RO for NA-48 Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Azam Khan scrutinised nomination papers of Chaudhary Ashraf Gujar, Sahibzada Ahmed Raza Qasori, Allama Zaheer Abbas Qadri, Zahid Iqbal Bakhtawri and others.
The RO also completed the hearing regarding the objections raised against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Faisal Sakhi But. In this regard, decision will be announced on Sunday (today).
Objection petitioner Hanif H Rahi Advocate appeared before the RO and contended that Faisal Sakhi Butt had provided false information about his assets. He added that Butt also did not show correct details regarding his property and bank accounts. Therefore, he does not fulfill the requirements of Article 62.
On this occasion, Barrister Masroor Shah on behalf of Faisal appeared before the RO and presented the copies of tax returns of his client. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, RO Muhammad Azam Khan reserved the verdict. The RO for NA-48 will scrutinise the nomination papers of former president Pervez Ashraf on Sunday and keeping in view security apprehensions, he has called heavy contingent of police for this occasion.
Besides scrutiny of his nomination papers, the RO will also conduct hearing about objections raised against him. Some 8 people have filed their objections against the candidature of Musharaf to contest the elections from NA-48.
Meanwhile, the RO for NA-49 Wajid Ali finalised scrutiny of nomination papers of Adnan Ali Kayani, Noor Muhammad Shah, Muhammad Afzal Chaudhary, Dr Rafiq Ahmed, Ghazanfar Ali, Sohail Ahmed Satti, Muhammad Waqas Kayani and 4 others.
