ECP issues candidates list, electoral signs

MULTAN - The Election Commission of Pakistan put on display the final list of candidates for NA-151 by poll and allocated electoral signs to them on Friday. According to the final list, ten candidates are in the run and they include Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani of PPP and nine independent ones namely Malik Shaukat Hayat Bosan, Nawab Iqbal Khan, Shahla Shaheen, Aleem Chaudhry, Hasnian Bosan, Abid Yousuf Jutt, Prof. Latif Ansar Lajpal, Mahr Ghulam Shabbir Sial and Hakim Moen Uddin.The ECP has allocated the sign of arrow to PPP candidate Abdl Qadir Gilani while jug is given to Shaukat Hayat Bosan, elephant Advocate Nawab Iqbal Khan, sparrow to Aleem Chaudhry, racket to Hasnain Bosan, rickshaw to Abid Yousuf Jutt, torch Prof. Latif Ansar Lajpal, loud speaker Mahr Ghulam Shabbir Sial and cat Hakim Moen Uddin.It may not be out of place to mention here that the NA-151 seat got vacated because of disqualification of former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. The electioneering is in full swing in the constituency as a candidate namely Malik Ishaq Bucha, who was hot favourite for the PML-N ticket, suddenly withdrew his nomination papers in favour of PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Gillani. He alleged that the party leadership forced him to withdraw in favour of Malik Shaukat Bosan, who is being backed by PTI. ECP forms four teams to implement electoral codeMeanwhile, the ECP has formed four teams comprising ECP officials and professional photographers to keep eye on the violation of electoral code of conduct and submit reports. ECP sources said that the teams carried out visits of entire NA-151 constituency and erased wall chalking done in favour of different candidates. Similarly, the teams also removed hoardings, banners and posters. Sources claimed that the highest number of violations was committed by Abdul Qadir Gilani followed by Shaukat Bosan. The ECP Multan authorities said that the issue of violations was being reviewed by the ECP and action would be taken against the candidates found guilty of code of conduct violation.300 challans submit: More than 300 challans have been submitted during the recent anti-adulteration campaign by the district government to courts.This was told here in a meeting which was chaired by DCO Javed Iqbal the other day. More than 500 samples of different commodities were sent to laboratory for test from where more than 300 samples were declared adulterated, substandard or defective.  EDO Health Dr Ashraf Javed and EDO Agriculture Dr Mian Shafiq Muhammad attended the meeting.
