Door-to-door voters’ verification process to start from Dec 15

Rawalpindi - Door-to-door voters’ verification process will kick off in Rawalpindi district from December 15.

According to District Election Commissioner Rawalpindi sources, all arrangements have been finalized and efforts have been made to complete the verification campaign within the prescribed time frame.

They informed, at present total registered voters of Rawalpindi district were 29,47,715 including 15,73,117   male and 13,74,598 female while 29 Assistant Registration Officers and 2221 verification officers had been assigned the task to be completed till January 7.

After completion of the first phase, the voters verified lists would be displayed at 199         display centers set up at prominent places in the district for January 8 to February 6 period. The objections on the voter lists could be submitted during January 8 to February 16 while the final lists would be displayed on April 10 in the office of District Election Commissioner.

The lists would be verified checking ID cards of the voters issued by NADRA. The names of the deceased would be deleted from the lists during the process while the new entries would be on the permanent or temporary residence addresses basis printed on the ID Cards.

There were nearly 2.6 million registered voters during 2013 general elections and the number has crossed to 2.9 million. It is expected that the voters of the district would be more than three million after the verification process and that registration of new voters before next year’s general elections.
