KASUR-Residents of different localities flayed the government for reneging on its promise to end power loadshedding by December. Talking to The Nation, they said electricity remains suspended for 14 hours in Kasur city and suburbs.
They added that prolonged power outages have crippled local industrial sector, rendering a number of labourers jobless. They have also paralyzed routine life of people, the complained. "Rural areas are worst victim of the crisis where power supply, once it is cut, remains suspended for unlimited period," they maintained.
People belonging to all walks of life demanded Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi take notice of the issue and order the authorities concerned for its early solution.
SYLLABUS NOT RECEIVED
Students of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have not acquired syllabus for preparation of the exams. They are forced to buy books from bazaar as the university has not couriered the syllabus so far to students. Students are facing difficulty to complete the assignments compulsory to pass the exams. They appeal to the university management ensure early solution to the problem.
Fire reduces valuables to ashes
Electronic equipment and bales of cotton and wool worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes in two separate fire incidents here the other day.
According to Rescue 1122, a fire broke out in a shop - Sharif Electronics - at Khalid Market, Chunian due to short circuit. Shop owner Atique said that the fire burnt electronic equipment worth Rs100,000 to ashes.
In another incident, bales of cotton and wool owned by Khursheed, Shehbaz, Israr and Hameed; caught fire by a cigarette thrown by an unidentified person. The fire reduced these cotton and wool bales worth hundreds of thousands of rupees to ashes. The incident occurred in Rasoolnagar.
