30 properties sealed for tax default

rawalpindi - The Excise and Taxation Department sealed thirty commercial and residential properties during the last week for non-payment of property tax while 2,420 unregistered and token tax defaulter vehicles were also issued tickets in four districts of the division.

According to the Excise and Taxation department, the teams are conducting raids and the properties of tax defaulters are being sealed.

The sources said that the department recovered property tax arrears amounting to millions during the campaign. The properties whose owners had not submitted their property tax dues were sealed in different areas.

The Excise and Taxation department during its campaign is also checking vehicles in the division and recovering outstanding dues of token tax. Seven teams were constituted for Rawalpindi, four for Attock, two each for Jhelum and Chakwal districts.

Action is being taken against the defaulters as well as unregistered vehicles. The teams checked over 7,000 vehicles and issued tickets to 2,420 others, while a large number of vehicles were impounded.

The sources said that the department was expecting to recover over Rs8.5 million in arrears.

The owners of properties and vehicles have been urged to pay their taxes at the earliest, else action against the defaulters would be taken under the law.
