LAHORE (PR): The government has been asked to ensure provision of fundamental rights to the workers, including safe working conditions.
The demand was raised by the working class on the eve of celebration of International Human Rights Day by holding a large meeting at Bakthiar Labour Hall Lahore under the aegis of all Pakistan Workers Confederation (Regd.). The meeting was attended by large number of trade union representatives and workers belonging to the various affiliated trade unions including Elecy/WAPDA, Railway, Transport, Telecommunication, PWD, Irrigation, Textile, Printing, Engineering and other industries. The meeting was addressed by Khurshid Ahmed, APWC general secretary, Rubina Jamil, president, Mehmood Butt, Adil Khan, Saeed Gujjar, Osama Tariq, Muhammad Ilyas, Niaz Khan, Hassan Munir Bhatti and other trade union representatives.
Later on, the workers took out a procession to celebrate International Human Rights Day, pledging their commitment to continue to carry out the concreted struggle to uphold the principles of United Nation Deliberation on Human Rights and core conventions of ILO on labour and getting them implemented.
