Workshop on job counselling
Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) has conducted planning and sensitisation session on career counselling and job placement with the support of TVET Sector Support Programme, funded by the European Union and governments of Germany and Norway. The workshop was conducted to enhance their skills both technical and management aspects of career counselling and job placement to better plan and evaluate job placement work. PVTC has capacity of 200,000 persons to train them in 102 different marketable/demand driven trades in its 348 Vocational Training Institutes across Punjab. Workshop has repeated and identified the role, responsibilities and provide knowledge of labour market and its important in placement services. PVTC has appointed admission & Placement officers in almost 348 Vocational Training Institutes in throughout Punjab for bringing the gap in identifying marketable demand driven trades along with job opportunities in local, national and international markets. PVTC has used all teaching learning material in the workshop. Moreover group discussion, audio video tools, handouts, case studies, group work and presentation were also the part of workshop. –PR
CCPO opens cafeteria for cops
Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Amin Wains Tuesday inaugurated cafeteria for policemen at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh. DIG (Operations) Haider Ashraf, DIG (Investigations) Chaudhry Sultan, DIG (Security) Dr Moeen, and SSP Rana Ayaz Saleem were also present on this occasion besides others. The CCPO said that thousands of police would get quality food at subsidized rates since the new cafeteria was built as welfare project. DIG Haider Ashraf said that standard of this police welfare cafeteria was not less than the standard of any five star hotel. He said that cafeteria staff was trained by professionals. The policemen will be served quality food at subsidized rates at the cafeteria, he added. –PR
Highway Patrol performance reviewed
Additional IG of Punjab Highway Patrol Amjad Javed Saleemi chaired a meeting here Tuesday to review monthly performance. The Lahore region was praised for better traffic management. Additional IG Amjad Javed Saleemi has directed that all regions should review their performance to bring in improvement. In October, 12 persons were killed in 13 accidents while 22 deaths were reported in 32 accidents occurred in October last year. In reducing deaths on road, Attock Region stood first, followed by Multan Region while DG Khan Division came under fire for poor performance. DIG Patrolling Ghulam Mahmud Dogar, regional SPs and DSPs also attended the meeting. Saleemi directed his team to step up efforts to bring down traffic accident rate. The additional IG also sanctioned the establishment of driving school at Multan. He also ordered refreshing courses to improve the efficiency of officials. –PR
