Inclusion of ransom accused in ECL sought

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A resident of Faisalabad has demanded the police high-ups to enter the name of accused persons, involved in kidnapping of his son, in the exit controlled list (ECL). Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club here on the other day, Abdul-Hameed, son of Karam Elahi and a resident of Faisalabad, has alleged that six months back his relative Haji Sharafat had kidnapped his son namely Salman Haider with the help of his three accomplices for ransom worth over Rs 20 million here on November 4, 2010. He said as, I flanked by my two nephews namely Asad Majeed and Habibul Rehman was sitting inside a second car. About five persons equipped with fire arms approached my son seconds after he reached near my factory, he narrated. He further said that the accused persons released his son after receiving Rs 20 million as ransom. The complainant told that last month, when he along with his son went to accused Sharafats house, his son identified three accused persons present at Sharafats house and involved in his kidnapping. The accused persons threatened me and my son to keep quiet otherwise they would close the chapters of his and my lives, he said, adding he consulted the concerned police and got registered a case against the accused men. Police have arrested two accused persons identified as Shabbir Akram and Amir Shahzad while Haji Sharafat and his one accomplice were still at large. Abdul Hameed has appealed to the Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, IG Punjab Javed Iqbal and Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to enter the names of accused persons in the ECL and recover ransom.
