Chairman LPG Distributors Association and founder of LPG Industries Association of Pakistan Afran Khokhar in a statement said that the government had introduced unjustified taxes on the sale of the LPG which has increased its prices in the market and it will increase financial burden on the common man who used this LPG due to shortage of Sui gas in the coming peek winter season. He said due to levy of various taxes by the government on LPG, its per kg price has been increased to Rs. 300 and the price for domestic cylinder has been increased Rs. 3500.

He said the association has decided to go on country-wide shutter down strike on December 9, to protest against the levy of taxes.

Arfan Khokhar said the government instead of taking action against those who are manufacturing sub-standard LPG gas cylinders is just taking action against the distributors of the LPG who were already under pressure due to various types of the taxes which has reduced their profit margin.

He appealed to the government, Prime Minister Shahid Khan Abbasi and Ministry of Petroleum to ensure the sale of domestic LPG cylinder at a rate of Rs. 895 which he promised when he was Minister for Petroleum.
