Martyrs heirs to get Rs 5,000 per month

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal will give Rs5, 000 per month to family of each martyred personnel of capital police as an acknowledgment to sacrifices of those personnel who laid down their lives in line of the duty. Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Zamurad Khan said on Monday while distributing cheques of Rs60,000 among the family members of those cops of Islamabad police who laid down their lives in the line of duty and also wheel chairs to those who got handicapped while performing professional duties. Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani, DIG (Operations) Bani Ameen, DIG Headquarters Ahmad Makkram, DIG (Security Division), Dr Mujeeb ur Rehman, SSP HQ Zabair Ahmad Hashmi, senior police officials, families of martyred personnel were also present on the occasion. Managing Director PBM announced to educate the children of martyred cops in the best educational institutions and also give five thousand rupees per month for heirs of martyred cops. It may be mentioned that PBM has given Rs60,000 for one year in advance and will continue this help in future too. He said that orphans have the first right on PBM as it is committed to leave no stone unturned for their betterment. Zamurd Khan used term of special friends for disable persons and said that their financial help would be also ensured. He said that Pakistan Sweet Homes are being established for the orphan children who are being adopted for next 14 years. He said that best boarding and educational facilities are being provided in the running sweet homes. I am very happy that commitment which I made at the time of assuming charge of MD has been fulfilled and philanthropists are very much cooperating to finance these homes, he maintained. He vowed to resolve the problems of heirs of the martyred personnel of Islamabad police in cooperation with its officials, bear the education expenses of their children, and also provide financial expenditures for marriage of their daughters. He said PBM has been made a corruption-free department and several donors have contacted it due to its good reputation. IGP Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani said that 43 policemen lost their lives while performing their duty. He appreciated PBM for announcing a package for families of the policemen who sacrificed their lives while fighting against terrorists and said this gesture will further encourage police force to perform more effectively. The IGP said that police across the country have fought at the frontline against terrorists and foiled their nefarious designs. He said that terrorists are on the run due to the policemen and saluted to the brave men who protected their soil by sacrificing their lives. Martyred cops of the Islamabad police force, he said, have left behind indelible memories and heroic examples that will continue to inspire others in the fight against terrorism. Though there can be no compensation for the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation, the government is providing relief and financial support to the bereaved families, the IGP added.Later, the IGP Wajid Ali Khan Durrani presented shield to Managing Director PBM. They also laid floral wreath at the National Police Martyrs Monument established at Police Line Headquarters in memory of brave soldiers.
