NHA to inaugurate three roads in next two weeks

Islamabad - National Highway Authority will inaugurate three roads in the next two weeks.

The information was given to National Assembly Standing Committee on Communications by National Highway Authority and Communications Division during the meeting of the Standing Committee. The Committee was informed that Hazara Motorway would be inaugurated on 27th December 2017 while Lyari Expressway would be completed by 5th January 2017. Moreover, Motorway, M-9 would also be inaugurated at the beginning of 2018. The Committee was informed that three roads would be inaugurated in the next two weeks in the country.

The Committee observed that Lyari Expressway had been completed but the service road of Lyari Expressway was still in progress. The Committee declared that without service road, the Lyari Expressway would be useless. The Committee took serious notice of the absence of Commissioner Karachi and Secretary Local Government, Sindh from the meeting. The Committee directed the two officers to attend the next meeting of the Committee, in person and directed Chief Secretary Sindh to ensure their presence. It was informed to the Committee that 12000 new posts would be created in NH&MP. However, in Phase-I, three thousand new posts have been created and the process of recruitment would be started in the days to come. The Committee took notice of traffic Jam on the Toll Plaza at M-1. The Committee directed that NHA should give detailed briefing on the construction of the Toll plaza as well as the situation of traffic in the next meeting.

The meeting was presided over by the Chairman Standing Committee on Communications Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi and attended by Federal Minister for Communications, Hafiz Abdul Karim; Members National Assembly Ms. Maiza Hameed, Dr. Darshan, Salim Rehman, Sanjay Parwani, Molana Qamar-ud-Din, Ms. Naseema Hafeez Panezai, Engr. Usman Khan Tarakai, Ms. Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio, Chairman NHA Jawad Rafique Malik and Secretary Communications Saeed Ahmed Malik attended the meeting.
