SADIQABAD - Former premier and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto was a great leader in the political history of Pakistan whose sacrifices for democratic stability in Pakistan would never be forgotten.
It was stated by PPP MPA Makhdoom Murtaza Mehmood during a media talk at a function held in connection with the 10th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto here the other day.
He said that Bibi Shaheed rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the stability of democratic institutions in the country. He claimed that the PPP had always fought against anti-democratic forces. He called the PPP a party of martyrs, saying that Benazir Bhutto had made a history by sacrificing her life for democracy. “The PPP has a firm belief in the political ideology of its founder, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and supports every step taken in the best interest of the country,” he pointed out.
Makhdoom Murtaza claimed that the PPP leadership aimed at materialising the dream envisaged by the party’s founding fathers which was the supremacy of the rule of law.
He added the PPP would continue its struggle for strengthening of democratic institutions in the country. “The masses have tired of false promises of the rulers and are defecting to the PPP,” he claimed and adding that the PPP would sweep the next general election.
PPP office-bearers including Rana Tariq Mehmood, Khalid bin Saeed, Bashir Ahmed Somroo, Zafar Khan Abbasi and Rana Hamza Tariq were present on the occasion.

They pointed out that the efforts made by Benazir Bhutto for democratic stability in the country would never be forgotten. They said that the country had made progress during the PPP reign while the incumbent rulers have destroyed the national economy. The PPP would form government in the centre in next polls, they claimed.
Rana Tariq, Mehmood Khan, Khalid bin Saeed, Bashir Ahmed Somroo and other local PPP leaders addressed the ceremony. The participants prayed for rest of the departed soul in peace.
