'Mentally disabled' man arrested after holding family hostage in Rawalpindi

A man allegedly mentally disabled has been arrested by police after holding his family hostage in Rawalpindi today. 

According to details, the man named Abdul Rahim is aged around 30 and is also said to be a drug addict. He shot and injured his father-in-law and made family hostage last night. 

After a successful operation police remained successful in arresting the suspect and rescued the family. A policeman was also critically injured during operation. 

While talking to media CPO Israr Abbasi Rawalpindi said that non one has died during this whole situation and suspect is under arrest and he is also injured. 

"All family members have been rescued and investigation is underway," he said. 

Abbasi further said that condition of injured policeman is out of danger now. 

The relatives of the suspect told media that Rahim attempted suicide yesterday and on stopping he held all of them hostage. 

"He works in construction business and lost his machinery in gambling," one of the relative said.
