Traffic edu to get place in school curriculum

Islamabad - Subjects comprising traffic rules and road safety concepts will be included in the curriculum from primary to matriculation level as a compulsory subject, as all the four provincial governments have given their consent in this regard.
The idea of including traffic rules in the curriculum was the brainchild of Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police, Zulfiqar Ahamd Cheema. He believed it was necessary to impart traffic sense to the road users at earlier stage, as the subject of road safety was also incorporated in school curriculum of all the developed countries, said a press release issued here on Monday. The press release said that motorway police forwarded its request to include subjects related to road safety and traffic rules in the curriculum that was accepted by all the provincial governments.
The IG believes that children and youth awareness programme about traffic laws and concept of road safety will be extremely beneficial and will have very positive and long-lasting effects.
