LAHORE - Implementation of the National Action Plan by Punjab witnessed a slightly downward trend in third quarter of 2017.

This was shared by PILDAT Fourth Quarterly Monitor on Implementation of the National Action Plan on Counterterrorism in Punjab at a public forum at a hotel here on Thursday.  The forum was addressed by Mujeebur Rahman Shami, Lt-Gen (Retd) Moinuddin Haider, former governor of Sindh Shahid Hamid, former governor of Punjab Tasneem Noorani, former federal secretary for interior Tariq Pervez, former national coordinator for NACTA, former director general of FIA and President of PILDAT Ahmed Bilal Mehboob.

This 4th Quarterly Monitor on Implementation of NAP in Punjab is a Continuation of Periodic Monitoring of Implementation of National Action Plan that PILDAT began in January 2017 (Given the importance of the 20-point consensus-based NAP in countering terrorism in Pakistan, PILDAT has undertaken a citizens’ initiative to monitor progress on implementation of the NAP based on the Publicly Available Data).

Mehboob explained that during the third quarter of 2017, of the 15 NAP points pertaining to performance of Punjab on implementation of the National Action Plan, two NAP points have shown upward progress.
