CASA-1000 project to reduce energy crisis

ISLAMABAD : Former Secretary Petroleum Dr Gulfraz Ahmed has said that Central Asia-South Asia, CASA-1000 project would help reduce the energy crisis in Pakistan.  Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that the laying of transmission-line between Pakistan and Tajikistan would pay dividends to both the countries. He said through this line Pakistan can import more than 1000 MW electricity. Coal projects initiated by government will also result in the generation of cheaper electricity in Pakistan, he said. He said that Pakistan’s growing economy needs energy and uninterrupted power supply is needed for the industrial sector of Pakistan.
