VTCS: Rs710m tax collected so far

ISLAMABAD - The Federal Board of Revenue has realised Rs710 million tax under the Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme (VTCS) till March 31.
As many as 7,500 returns have been filed by the non-filers under the VTCS so far, spokesman of the Board Dr. Muhammad Iqbal said.
According to FBR data, as many as 1308 VTCS returns were received by Regional Tax Office (RTO) Lahore-1 where the total amount of tax collection stood at Rs.98.5 million.
Likewise, tax of Rs.86 million was received by RTO-II Lahore which received 729 tax returns.
The RTO Bahawalpur received 245 returns with tax of Rs.30.06 million whereas the RTO Peshawar received 76 returns with tax of Rs.6.276 million under VTCS, the FBR data revealed.
The remaining returns and tax amount was collected through other RTOs all across the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that Finance Minister announced further extension extension in the last date for filing of tax returns for non-filers from March 31 to April 30 under VTCS.
He the withholding tax (WHT) on bank transactions would also be at 0.4 per cent up to the new deadline.
Meanwhile, the overall revenue collection during the month of March were recorded at Rs 288 billion, showing an increase of 25 per cent over the corresponding month last year.
He said up to March 30, the overall revenue collection during the first three quarters of the fiscal year (2015-16) stood at Rs 2,088 billion, which showed an increase of 19 per cent over the same period of last fiscal year.
