Three-day industrial expo concludes today


ISLAMABAD - The three-day industrial exhibition, arranged by HVACR, being concluded here on Saturday at the Convention Centre that attracted a large number of visitors including business executives, industry representatives, engineers, women and children from all walks of life.
On the occasion, President HVACR Abdul Rauf, founder member of the chamber Khalid Mehmood, member Executive Committee Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anwar A. Sheikh, Mustafa Khalid and Umer Khalid addressed the audience and highlighted the potential of local industrial sector as well as HVACR.
The exhibition is an annual feature and has been arranged here after holding event in Karachi and Lahore.
In his remarks, Khalid Mehmood, Spokesman Carrier and Toshiba, said that lakhs of people have been employed directly or indirectly with this sector, who have made this annual exhibition a success.
Abdul Rauf said that a number renowned companies including Toshiba, Carrier, ACSON, Mitsubishi, Sabro and Orient had set up around 300 stalls at the exhibition. He believed that this exhibition would go a long way in generating economic activities in the country and earn a big chunk of revenue for the government exchequer.
However, he regretted that the government has taken any tangible step for the betterment of this sector. “We are demanding of the government to establish an expo center in Islamabad for the last 20 years, however, it has never paid any heed to this genuine issue,” he said.
Anwar A. Sheikh, member, executive committee of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that they are proud of HAVCR and appreciated its services for the promotion of industrial activities in the country and abroad as well.
He regretted that neither Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani nor any member of the federal cabinet bothered to visit this mega event of the country or appreciated it.
Anwar claimed that the government is giving step-motherly treatment with the traders and industrials that should be halt immediately. “I preferred to investment my own Pakistan despite the fact that I got opportunities for investment in a number of foreign countries,” he said.
Mustafa Khalid and Umer Khalid, in his remarks, demanded of the government to evaluate this annual exhibition and encourage the people attached with the mega annual event, so that they could positively promote their country’s products in foreign markets.
