FBR dismisses four officials on inefficiency and misconduct

ISLAMABAD
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday dismissed four officials under rule of the Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1973 with immediate effect.
The FBR has issued four different notifications in this regard. The four officials included Shahid ul Hassan, Muhammad Sharif Watto, Nawaz Ali Shaikh and Ejaz Ahmed.
Disciplinary proceedings 1973 were initiated against Shahid ul Hassan, Inspector, Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Lahore and Muhammad Sharif Watto, Inspector, Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement, Lahore on the charges of “Inefficiency and Misconduct”.
The Inquiry Officer, Saira Agha (Additional Collector, Collectorate Of Customs), submitted inquiry report dated 18.12.2013, according to which the charges leveled against the accused officers have been proved. A Show Cause Notice dated 08.01.2014 was issued to the accused officers and in response, they submitted his defence reply dated 28.01.2014.
 After considering the inquiry report, reply of the accused to the Show Cause Notice and there oral submissions during the personal hearing, the accused officers have been found guilty of “Inefficiency” & “Misconduct” under rule 3(a)&(b) of the Government Servants (E&D) Rules, 1973.
Meanwhile, in other case, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against Nawaz Ali Shaikh, Superintendent (BS-16), Regional Tax Office, Karachi (presently posted in Directorate of Internal Audit (Customs) Lahore, on the charges of “inefficiency, Misconduct and Corruption”.
The Inquiry Officer Dr Shamsul Hadi (Additional Commissioner RTO Karachi) submitted inquiry report dated 23.01.2014, according to which the charges leveled against the accused officer have been proved. A Show Cause Notice dated 07.02.2014 was issued to the accused officer and in response, he submitted his defence reply dated 11.02.2014 and 16.02.2014. After considering the inquiry report, reply of the accused to the Show Cause Notice and his oral submissions during the personal hearing, the accused officer has been found guilty of “Inefficiency”, “Misconduct” & “Corruption” under rule 3(a), (b)&(c) of the Government Servants (E&D) Rules, 1973.
The fourth case was initiated against Ejaz Ahmed, Examiner (BS-16), Model Customs Collectorate on the charges of Inefficiency and Misconduct.
The Member (Admn) being the Authority in this case, after having considered all aspects of the four cases and the recommendations of Authorised Officers have therefore imposed the major penalty of “dismissal from service” upon Muhammad Sharif Watto, Shahid ul Hassan, Nawaz Ali Shaikh and Ejaz Ahmed. under rule 4(1)(b)(iv) of the Govt. Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 with immediate effect. The four officials shall have the right of Appeal as admissible in the Civil Servants (Appeal)Rules, 1977.
