Taseer for timely uplift schemes completion

LAHORE (PR) - Punjab Governor Salman Taseer presided over a meeting of the regional heads of the federal departments which have been assigned provision of civic amenities to the public at large, at Governors House here on Tuesday. The meeting was aimed at reviewing the development projects of Wapda, Pakistan Railways, SNGPL, Pepco and Nadra. The regional heads of all these departments gave detailed briefings regarding progress in the development schemes. Pakistan People Party Punjab President Rana Aftab Ahmad, General Secretary Samiullah Khan, Lahore President Ch Muhammad Asghar, Finance Secretary Aurang Zaib Burki and Political Advisor to Governor Hafizur Rehman Malik also attended the meeting. The party office-bearers suggested various measures to redress the public complaints regarding provision of new gas and electric connections, issuance of excessive utility bills and undue delay in issuance of demand notices to the consumers. The governor directed Pepco Managing Director Tahir Basharat Cheema to arrange open courts and launch Awami Rabita Muhimm at the level of all distribution companies (DISCOs) in Punjab. People should be given feeling that problems are being resolved at their doorstep, the governor added.
