LAHORE : The Punjab has achieved its target of 1 per cent tax to GDP ratio in current fiscal year. A senior official of the Punjab Finance department told APP here on Sunday. He said the fiscal consolidation process that the government initiated was on track and of economic initiatives taken by the government have started yielding results. He said economy had started to grow and the govt was committed to increase the tax to GDP ratio by one per cent every year. The official said the tax to GDP ratio of Pakistan was at 7-8 per cent in the previous government and present government improved it to more than 10 per cent and were endeavoring to take it to 15pc under its medium term plan.
He said in the next fiscal year’s budget such a programmes had been launched in which vocational and practical training will be provided to unemployed youth and opportunities of maximum employment would also be provided to them so that they could play their role in socio-economic uplift of the country.
He said policies of the government had been appreciated by the international community.
