Pakistan’s first-ever women entrepreneurs’ delegation visits Sichuan Chamber

LAHORE - Pakistan’s first-ever delegation of women entrepreneurs have made history by visiting Sichuan Chamber of Commerce for footwear imports & exports in Chengdu. The 8-member Pakistani delegation was comprised of leading working women from leading outfits of the country.     

Upon arrival at the chambers of commerce, Ms Lynn, the secretary-general of the chambers, briefed the visitors on the overall business of the women entrepreneurs.
She told that the Chengdu footwear industry has a long history and profound culture, during the emperor Kangxi years of Qing dynasty, which was 300 years ago. She said that after two decades of development, Chengdu footwear industry has become a large scale industry with complete service facilities, integrated production and marketing, a hundred million pairs of shoes output and more than 16 billion dollars annual value.
Ms Zhang Lina, the CEO of Aimiqi Footwear Group, informed the delegates that Chengdu women shoes export ranked first in Western China, accounting for 60% of the total production, and the leather boots export accounted for 10% of the global market, the shoes are sold to more than 100 countries and regions, mainly to Russia, the United States, Germany, Britain, and the Ukraine.
“We also import leather from Pakistan - one of the major exporters of leather shoes. Chengdu is the only foreign trade export base in china which specialize in women shoes. In December 2012, Chengdu was titled the National Foreign Trade transformation and upgrading professional demonstration base by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce,” added Zhang Lina. She told that the shoes culture museum is the largest theme culture museum in western china, through a group of displays, it shows the unique charm of shoes culture. The visit was a part of the exchange program between China and Pakistan.
